When Ner Thomas "converted" from coal to oil, the coal bin room was empty.  Jean Thomas and Marion Thomas Harbaugh gathered store memorabilia from the storage areas and the Thomas Bros. Store Museum was born.  It is located in the basement of the famous Country Store.

One regret Marion Thomas Harbaugh has is that Mamie Eisenhower was not present to dedicate the store museum.  Mamie Eisenhower said "she would be happy to dedicate the store museum."  So later, Marion Thomas Harbaugh wrote for her to choose a date.  When there was no answer, she naturally did not press the issue.  Years later, Mrs. Harbaugh learned from Mamie's chauffeur that Mamie asked "I wonder why Marion did not contact me."  Her secretary never showed her the letter . . .
