Step Back in Time at the Biglerville Civil War Re-enactment

History comes alive this fall during the Biglerville Civil War Reenactment, an AMERICA 250 PA Adams County celebration, taking place September 25–27 at the National Apple Museum, 154 W. Hanover St., Biglerville, Pennsylvania.

Hosted by the 5th Texas Company F, the free weekend event will recreate the atmosphere of a Civil War encampment and offer visitors an opportunity to learn more about the Gettysburg Campaign and the history of the Biglerville area.

During the campaign, General Rodes’ Confederate division marched through Biglerville—then known as Middletown—after camping on the Sillik Farm on the night of June 30. The former farm is now the site of the National Apple Museum, making it a fitting location for this historic commemoration.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can experience military drills, demonstrations, period clothing, rifle displays and the daily routines of soldiers living in camp. Guests will also be able to explore an up-close look at encampment life and learn about the people, equipment and skills of the Civil War era.

Saturday, September 26, will feature a full schedule of activities, including soldier demonstrations, camping displays and period crafts. Children can make and take home church pew dolls, a traditional craft inspired by the era.

The National Apple Museum will also be open for tours on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a patriotic quilt show, history talks and homemade baked goods while exploring the museum’s exhibits.

The reenactment is free and open to the public, making it a fun and educational event for families, history enthusiasts and anyone interested in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
